The Details

Set within the heart of London, Soho Place designed by AHMM architects is a new state of the art building comprised of nine floors, providing a five storey 350-seat theatre, bars, restaurants, and offices. The full fit-out was a multi-million-pound joinery package which we began in 2020 and was completed in January 2022, involved a variety of in-built furniture units, upholstered seating, doors, bar counters and back bars, wall panelling, flooring and bespoke ceilings.

Our Work

The wall panelling on each floor was over 100 linear metres and made up of veneered oak, mirror and Autex acoustic panels all integrated with doors, visual displays, lighting etc. The scope for the flooring over the 5 floors involved a large colour palette of materials and finishes, requiring specialist installation knowledge. The false Autex ceiling which simulated a clear night evening with glowing stairs and constellation lighting was a feat of joinery engineering. This was a great challenge for our CNC specialist team, as tolerances needed to be very tight, each floor contained over 200 ceiling tiles (1200x600mm) fitted within a bespoke magnetic grid system, with integrated services, lighting, speakers, sprinklers, CCTV, air supply grilles etc. The main challenge from a design perspective was the knowledge required to deal with the diversity of materials, the integration of lighting, sliding and folding mechanisms, structural integrity and ensuring that all surfaces and joins provided the desired final aesthetic. All our 3D design data was integrated into the BIM model. Our new manufacturing facility had the capacity and ability to produce all items in-house ensuring the highest quality. Our installation team of specialist joiners and experienced project managers working closely with the main contractor, were able to ensure a seamless process with all other service providers and were always able to find solutions to any problems. The Quest approach to design, manufacture and installation allowed us to deliver high quality attractive spaces with efficiency and within the time scales required.
